Race Details TBF Racing will offer the 5th edition of our Half-Ironman Distance event called the TBF HIT. The location again will be Rancho Seco Park with a beautiful lake swim, a one-loop bike course, and a two-loop trail run. Each competitor entered in the TBF HIT V will receive a custom TBF HIT race tech t-shirt, TBF HIT Finisher Medal, along with the TBF HIT Goody Bag, post race hot meal, and massage. Free parking is available for all athletes, plus RV sites and camping with showers. Finishers of the TBF HIT V will receive a custom TBF HIT V Finisher Medal, and a TBF HIT V Finisher T-shirt. Awards will be given five-deep in each five-year age group. The TBF HIT V will be USAT Sanctioned, requiring the purchase of a $12 one-day license with USAT, or the holding of an annual membership card with USAT. TBF HIT V – Half Iron Triathlon Distance: Swim 1.2 miles – Bike 56 miles – Run 13.1 miles. NEW in 2012 will be the HIT Aquabike 1.2 mile swim – 56 mile bike.
Start Time: TBF HIT V will start at 7:30 am with wave starts. Packet pick up: The transition area will open at 6 am and will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs and Teams with more than 10 members racing, as part of the TBF Racing TRI Club Program. The transition area is for athletes only. Please ask your family and friends to remain outside the transition area while you set up your transition. Schedule of Events: Race Features Wave Starts: Course Description: The TBF HIT V will have four waves. Each wave will start five minutes apart. Each swimmer will receive a brightly colored swim cap matching their wave start. Please wear the colored swim cap you are given. After completing the swim head up the beach and grass into the transition area. If you need to change, please use the restroom located between the swim exit and the transition area. Bike - The TBF HIT V bike course is a one-loop course leaving Rancho Seco Park and turning left on Twin Cities Road. Riders will then make right hand turns on Clay Station Road, Tavernor Road, Dillard Road, Jackson Road, Highway 124, and Twin Cities Road before making a left hand turn back into the park at Rancho Seco. There will be CHP Officers controlling traffic at each intersection. The roads will not be closed to traffic. Safety is our first concern, be aware of all traffic and cyclists while riding. Upon re-entering the park proceed to the transition area. There will be DISMOUNT line where all cyclists must dismount their bike before entering the transition area. Please re-rack your bicycle in the SAME spot and proceed on to the run. ALL athletes are required to wear an approved bicycle helmet during the entire bike course. Athletes will NOT be allowed to proceed on the bike course without a helmet. The helmet must be securely fastened the entire time you are on your bike. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Headphones are not allowed on the bike course. The Bike course will have 3 aid stations, one each at mile 20, 35, and 45 on the 56 mile bike course. Each aid station will have a water bottle hand off with cold water and electrolyte beverage. There will also be CLIF Bloks, and CLIF Bars along with a porta-potty restroom available at each aid station. Run - The TBF HIT V run course is a two-loop course running on dirt roads and single track trails around Rancho Seco Lake. There will be ten aid stations, located at miles 1.25, 2.5, 3.5, 4.75, 6, 7.25, 8.5, 9.5, 10.75 and 12 on the run course stocked with cold water, Powerade, CLIF Shot energy gels and other fuels. Headphones are not allowed on the run course. There will be a Cut-Off time of 3:30 pm to start the second lap of the 13.1 mile run course. All runners not completing lap one of the run course by this time will be listed as DNF. Transition Area - The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

First place through fifth place in each five-year age group will receive TBF HIT V award plaques. First place overall M and Female in the TBF HIT V will receive a custom TBF HIT V Champion T-shirt, a TBF HIT V Champion Gear Bag, stocked with FLUID Recovery, and an XTERRA Vortex 3 sleeveless wetsuit.
